Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. McNair Residents Directory does not retain its own copy of those search entries. If you send a message, we receive the information included in it and use it only to respond.
Information Collected by Routine Use
Like most hosted sites, the service records ordinary server-log details such as an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time of visit. We review that information in aggregate for maintenance and to understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may be used for basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
We use the limited information described above to run and repair the site, measure traffic, and improve its reference pages. We do not sell a visitor list or build a profile of an individual visitor.
External Websites and Services
Links may lead to Fairfax County and Virginia record portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Each outside service controls its own privacy practices for information you submit there. That includes sponsored results supplied by a third-party company.
Parties That May Process Data
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatically collected data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Data Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes already described. No user accounts are offered, so the site does not hold an account password or a member profile for visitors.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Privacy Choices and Rights
The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code Title 59.1, Chapter 53, provides rights and scope rules for covered controllers, subject to its thresholds and exclusions. Depending on the law that applies, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data a site holds. Because this site keeps very little, we can review the contact mailbox and available server logs and remove information where appropriate. Use the Contact page to make a request. County and state public records remain with their custodian; a request for those records follows the applicable custodian process, including Va. Code ยง 2.2-3704 where Virginia FOIA applies.
