Why This Site Exists
McNair does not have one modern book of residents. The records are divided among Fairfax County custodians. The Department of Tax Administration's iCare records parcel and assessment information, while Fairfax Circuit Court Land Records maintains deed research. The Fairfax County Public Library's Virginia Room supplies historical directories, newspapers, maps, and genealogy materials. We collect the documented access routes, contacts, limits, and collection descriptions in one McNair-focused reference.
What the McNair Reference Covers
- Searches by record type: the street directory for address-keyed sources, city directories for the historical shelf, and a resident lookup for one-person verification.
- Custodians and collections: Fairfax tax, land-record, elections, court, and vital-record offices, plus local-history holdings.
- Research paths: ways to connect a street, parcel, directory entry, and date without treating an owner, occupant, or old listing as the same thing.
- Access boundaries: Virginia FOIA routes, confidentiality rules, and the right office to ask when a source is not online.
Limits of This Private Reference
McNair Residents Directory is privately operated. It has no connection to a McNair office, Fairfax County department, Virginia agency, court, or library. The practical limits are clear:
- We cannot establish that a named person presently lives in McNair.
- We cannot retrieve, certify, amend, or correct a custodian's record for you.
- We cannot place or remove a person from a government roll or database.
- We do not provide legal advice about records or disputes.
- We cannot guarantee that a link, collection date, or office detail remains current.
Only the custodian can verify, certify, or amend a record. Nothing found here may be used for FCRA-regulated credit, employment, tenant-screening, or insurance decisions.
